pcgamer wrote a new post, Stardew Valley creator would like everyone to please calm down, on the site GoGame.com 4 years, 11 months ago
Earlier this week, Stardew Valley creator Eric “ConcernedApe” Barone said on Twitter that he’s working on two new projects, a non-farming game set in the Stardew Valley game world, and another that’s even less well-defined at this point. The comments got a lot of attention, despite their very casual, offhand nature: An awful lot of people really like Stardew Valley, and the promise of more—even if only tangentially connected—is exciting. There was so much uproar, in fact, that the next day Baron

pcgamer wrote a new post, Disney wants developers to ‘come and play’ with its properties, on the site GoGame.com 4 years, 11 months ago
He encouraged the developers at his DICE talk to “come and play” with its franchises. This new approach has been inspired by some notable recent successes with Disney’s properties. Disney moved away from directly producing its own games in 2016, with the closing of Disney Interactive Studios and the demise of Disney Infinity. When Disney loosens the reins on developers working with them, brilliant things can happen. Here’s hoping Shoptaw can actually make good on his statements and give us some

pcgamer wrote a new post, Resident Evil 7 shifts seven million copies and DMC5 becomes the best-selling game in the series, on the site GoGame.com 4 years, 11 months ago
It continues to be the third best-selling game in the series, behind RE6 (7.4 million) and RE5 (7.6 million). Resident Evil 2, meanwhile, has finally overtaken… Resident Evil 2. That’s double the sales of the next best-selling game, Resident Evil 5, at 7.6 million. Monster Hunter Freedom 3 (4.9), Monster Hunter Generations (4.3) and Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate (4.2) make up spots eight, nine and 10 on the list. Street Fighter 5’s 4.1 million sales has only just outsold the original SNES release of

pcgamer wrote a new post, New Resident Evil Resistance additions include maps and Masterminds, on the site GoGame.com 4 years, 11 months ago
(Image credit: Capcom)Resident Evil Resistance, the assymetrical multiplayer outing that’ll come bundled with the Resident Evil 3 remake, just had two new playable villains and maps announced. The new Masterminds are Alex Wesker and Ozwell E. Spencer, who are both familiar faces in the series. The new maps include Casino and Abandoned Park, and these are fairly self-explanatory. Sadly, none of this is part of the Resident Evil canon. Resident Evil Resistance will release as part of Resident Evil

pcgamer wrote a new post, Destiny 2’s inventory-deleting bug was caused by a remarkable run of bad luck, on the site GoGame.com 4 years, 11 months ago
You might wonder how this kind of thing happens in a well-established game being run by a large, experienced game studio. And then another problem, entirely unrelated, caused the re-emergence of the first problem, which is how yesterday’s mess came about. It’s all fixed up now, although not without another character rollback. (The second in Destiny 2’s history, apparently—Bungie said that the rollback two weeks ago was the first.) We have fixed the issue that caused a small fraction of WorldServ

pcgamer wrote a new post, This month’s Windows security update may be the biggest ever with 99 fixes, on the site GoGame.com 4 years, 11 months ago
Microsoft doles out a cumulative security update every second Tuesday of the month, and today’s is one of the biggest ever, if not the largest, with nearly 100 individual patches. According to Trend Micro, this security flaw can also be exploited outside of IE. Considering the listed workaround—disabling jscript.dll—breaks a fair amount of functionality, you should prioritize the testing and deployment of this patch,” Trend Micro says. All this is needed to block impacted third-party bootloaders

pcgamer wrote a new post, These custom gaming PCs feature hardline liquid cooling and surprisingly start at $1,899, on the site GoGame.com 4 years, 11 months ago
Also known as EKWB (for EK Water Blocks), the company is bringing its liquid cooling mojo to the prebuilt desktop scene. EK Fluid Gaming, as the EK sub-brand is called, tells me it hopes to separate itself by focusing specifically on high-end water-cooled PCs with unique features. That’s why we’ve partnered with both AMD and Lian-Li to bring some exclusive features, at a price that’s super aggressive, because we want hardline custom water-cooling to be more accessible to mainstream gamers,” says

pcgamer wrote a new post, Activision Blizzard games have been pulled from GeForce Now, on the site GoGame.com 4 years, 11 months ago
But if you happen to cherish the platform’s collection of Activision and Blizzard titles, you’re out of luck: they’ve been rather unceremoniously removed. According to a spokesperson from Nvidia writing in the GeForce Now forums, the library of Activision Blizzard games, which included Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, Overwatch, Diablo 3 and more, has been removed at Activision’s request. “Per their request, please be advised Activision Blizzard games will be removed from the service. While unfortu

pcgamer wrote a new post, Metro Exodus ‘Sam’s Story’ launch trailer features snakes, giant bats and other terrors, on the site GoGame.com 4 years, 11 months ago
Metro Exodus gets a new expansion today in the form of Sam’s Story, and it’s a big one: it features an all new sandbox area, snakes, giant bats, and an American. The above trailer celebrates the expansion’s release, which is now available on the Epic Games Store and Steam. For those who didn’t preorder Metro Exodus on Steam when it was still available, the game officially launches on that platform on February 15. This is the second and last of the promised expansions for Metro Exodus. The first

pcgamer wrote a new post, Satisfactory is headed to Steam Early Access, on the site GoGame.com 4 years, 11 months ago
The co-op factory building game Satisfactory debuted on the Epic Games Store last year and did quite well for itself, despite being a relatively niche game about industrial-scale manufacturing on an alien world. But as with all Epic exclusives (as far as I know, anyway), it’s a timed thing, and today the studio announced that Satisfactory is “coming soon” to Steam Early Access. The Steam announcement comes alongside the release of Satisfactory Update 3, the “most significant” update to the game

pcgamer wrote a new post, Logitech has a brand new webcam for streamers, and you can mount it vertically, on the site GoGame.com 4 years, 11 months ago
I’ve favored Logitech’s C920 for years for its simplicity and picture quality. The new webcam Logitech launched today, the StreamCam, is everything the C920 is and more, but for a lot more money. You can mount it either horizontally or vertically, rotate it on multiple axes, and tilt it down at a full 90-degree angle. It also comes with a second mount base should you want to mount the StreamCam to a tabletop tripod instead of your monitor, and is fully supported by XSplit and OBS. (You do get a

pcgamer wrote a new post, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare is almost certainly getting a battle royale mode, on the site GoGame.com 4 years, 11 months ago
(Image credit: Activision)Activision announced Call of Duty: Modern Warfare’s second season today and it wasn’t especially surprising: there are three new maps, new weapons, a new Battle Pass… the usual. But for anyone paying close attention to the similarly unsurprising in-game cinematic that accompanied it (gruff military folk, death, explosions, gunfights), there was a pretty straightforward hint that a battle royale mode is on the way. There are soldiers jumping out of a large aeroplane in

pcgamer wrote a new post, Borderlands 3 will get its first level cap increase later this week, on the site GoGame.com 4 years, 11 months ago
Whether or not you’re interested in breaking hearts with heavy weaponry, the February update itself is worth paying attention to, as it will increase the level cap from 50 to 53, giving players three more skill points to play with. That doesn’t sound like much, but Borderlands 3 lead level designer said during today’s Borderlands Show that point-to-point increases in Borderlands 3’s skill trees are “way more impactful” than in the previous games, and Gearbox wants to avoid throwing the game out

pcgamer wrote a new post, Destiny 2 goes offline again as the material-deleting bug comes back, on the site GoGame.com 4 years, 11 months ago
A Destiny 2 update released a couple of weeks ago went about as wrong as it could: As soon as it was live, players began reporting the loss of glimmer and rare enhancement materials in their inventories. In some cases players even lost Silver, the micro-transaction currency which has to be bought with real money. We are investigating the re-emergence of the issue causing missing currencies and materials after Hotfix 2.7.1.1 went live. Destiny 2 will remain offline, please stand by for further up

pcgamer wrote a new post, Stardew Valley creator is working on two new games, on the site GoGame.com 4 years, 11 months ago
Eric Barone has spent years working on Stardew Valley, shepherding it from Steam Greenlight in 2012 to ten million copies sold in 2020. But on Twitter today, he confirmed that the wheels are turning on new games. Yes, I’m actually working on a couple of new projects. One takes place in the world of Stardew Valley, but is not a farming game. One thing we do know is that it’s not Witchbrook, the magic school RPG announced in 2018 by Chucklefish that has been at times wrongly credited to Barone.

pcgamer wrote a new post, The Division 2: Warlords of New York expansion will tie up loose ends from the first game, on the site GoGame.com 4 years, 11 months ago
New gear and weapons are on the cards, as well as a bunch of changes to the UI, gear systems, Dark Zones and level progression. Warlords of New York takes place in a former Dark Zone in South Manhattan after a calamitous hurricane has struck. You’ll need to be level 30 and World Tier 5 to play the new expansion. Thankfully each edition of the game includes a level 30 boost, and pre-purchasing makes it free. Returning players can purchase the Warlords of New York expansion on its own for $30.

pcgamer wrote a new post, Get Frogwares’ Sherlock Holmes series cheap on Steam, on the site GoGame.com 4 years, 11 months ago
Almost all of Frogware’s Sherlock Holmes collection is on sale on Steam, keeping you up to your deerstalker in puzzles and murder for the foreseeable future. Sherlock Holmes: Crimes and Punishments is rightly considered the best of the sleuth’s adventures for really leaning into the fantasy of playing the great detective. It’s not quite as slick as Crimes and Punishments, but I’m also very partial to The Awakened, too. It still hits all the Sherlock Holmes tropes, but there’s also horror, cults

pcgamer wrote a new post, IEM Sydney is turning into IEM Melbourne in 2020, on the site GoGame.com 4 years, 11 months ago
Sydney is losing IEM in 2020, with the CS:GO tournament defecting to Melbourne as the headline attraction of the Melbourne Esports Open. According to ESL, the addition of IEM marks the first global headline tournament for the Melbourne Esports Open. Coming back for 2020 was a top priority, and the Melbourne Esports Open was a natural match. Tickets for the Melbourne Esports Open and IEM Melbourne will go on sale February 14 via Ticketek. We went to IEM Sydney in 2018 and quite enjoyed it.

Update: The stream is over, and the archive is now embedded above. Original story:T-Pain, the rapper and producer best known for popularising Auto-Tune, is currently streaming Doom Eternal. He’s joined by Hugo Martin, the art director on Doom Eternal. At the time of writing, T-Pain is screaming “what the fuck” at a very aggressive arachnid-looking creature (update: it killed him). You can watch the stream above, and I’ll chuck in the archive once it’s available.

TT Isle of Man is a 2018 bike racing sim based on the real life annual race of the same name. Now it’s getting a sequel, and the footage above is promising. Also expect 18 motorbikes to choose from and a bunch of freedom to tinker with their performances. According to the press release the physics have “been rebuilt from the ground up to create ultra-realistic behaviour, including better balance around bends”. TT Isle of Man 2 releases March 19 on Steam.
