pcgamer wrote a new post, Duos are returning to Apex Legends for Valentine’s Day, on the site GoGame.com 4 years, 11 months ago
Valentine’s Day, the annual celebration of love and romance, is not the sort of thing that immediately invites thoughts of shooting other people in the face. That’s definitely on the menu, at least in Apex Legends, which will see the return of Duos mode tomorrow. Duos mode, which is the same as the regular three-os mode but with one fewer person per team, debuted as a two-week limited-time mode in November 2019. pcgamer wrote a new post, Two-headed skeletons are punching out cowboys in Red Dead Online, on the site GoGame.com 4 years, 11 months ago
Like many games, Red Dead Online has its share of hackers. Now it appears that Red Dead Online hackers have picked up a ghastly new trick: playing as unkillable two-headed skeletons who have come back from the grave for a few rounds of cowboy boxing. The gif above is courtesy of Reddit member Keisenberg_, who was playing Red Dead Online on PC and abruptly had their hat punched off by the dreaded double-headed undead. This isn’t the only instance of a two-headed skeleton dragging its dirty bones

pcgamer wrote a new post, Here’s new footage of Doom Eternal in Nightmare mode, on the site GoGame.com 4 years, 11 months ago
It’s footage of Doom Eternal in Nightmare mode, captured by YouTuber TheSpudHunter, and needless to say it’s extremely fast and almost intolerably anxiety inducing. In other Doom Eternal news, executive producer Marty Stratton has told Official Xbox Magazine that post-launch support will be a big focus for id Software. “We see hundreds and hundreds of thousand players continuing to play Doom 2016, and we’ve got nothing [for them],” he said. “They’ve asked for more DLC, they’ve asked for more way

pcgamer wrote a new post, Cliff Bleszinski almost made an Aliens shooter in which you played as Newt, on the site GoGame.com 4 years, 11 months ago
He had less success with LawBreakers at his Boss Key Productions studio, despite it being a pretty good game. In an alternate universe, presumably one in which LawBreakers is a hit and Boss Key a viable and vibrant FPS studio, he also would have worked on a shooter based on the Alien universe. Bleszinski said that the player would take on the role of Newt, the “mostly come at night” girl from Aliens, who’s now fully grown. The talks clearly didn’t get too far along, but Bleszinski said that he w

Today the US Navy announced that it too is making a move into esports, not as a participant but as a partner of ESL North America and Dreamhack. “The Navy is excited to partner with DreamHack and ESL as we enter the esports space,” US Navy Recruiting Commander Rear Admiral Brendan R. McLane said. “Like the Navy, esports requires a variety of skills and roles, and a strong commitment to continual improvement. Our partnership will help align the US Navy’s passion for competition with esports fans

pcgamer wrote a new post, This MSI gaming laptop with a GTX 1660 Ti is just $899 for today only, on the site GoGame.com 4 years, 11 months ago
Yesterday, we highlighted this gaming laptop with an RTX 2060 graphics card was down to $1,100 at Walmart (which is still available). Now another great deal has popped up, this time on a mid-range MSI laptop with a GTX 1660 Ti GPU. The laptop is $899 outright, a $200 drop from the original MSRP, but there’s a $100 mail-in rebate that lowers the total cost to $799. MSI has gone with an Nvidia GeForce GTX 1660 Ti graphics card for this laptop, which means most games will run just fine at the nativ

pcgamer wrote a new post, Anthem seasons are being dropped as BioWare pledges to ‘reinvent’ the game, on the site GoGame.com 4 years, 11 months ago
Carrying a 2019 seasonal event through February 2020 isn’t normal, but it wasn’t the signal that BioWare had walked away from the project that some took it to be. We have also heard your feedback that Anthem needs a more satisfying loot experience, better long-term progression and a more fulfilling end game. In the meantime, Anthem as it stands will continue to run with events, store updates, and “past seasonal and cataclysm content.” What I find particularly interesting is Hudson’s implication

It’s only the second month of 2020, but gaming giant Tencent has taken another step toward expanding its investments into game studios of all shapes and sizes. Earlier this year Tencent partnered with Platinum Games to help the studio fund its self-publishing efforts, and it also announced plans to acquire Conan Exiles developer Funcom entirely. And now, Berlin-based Spec Ops: The Line developer Yager has received an undisclosed investment from Tencent, though it will reportedly retain its indep

pcgamer wrote a new post, A glitch is preventing some Windows 7 PCs from shutting down or rebooting, on the site GoGame.com 4 years, 11 months ago
(Microsoft issued a security update to Windows XP when the WannaCry ransomware was making the rounds.) Fair enough, but since support came to end, Windows 7 users have been hit with two annoying bugs. That suggests a fix is coming, which isn’t surprising (there are still hundreds of millions of PCs that are still running Windows 7). As outlined by ZDNet, one way is to press the Windows key + L, then click on the red button in the lower-right corner. It’s said that disabling related services can

pcgamer wrote a new post, If I win the lottery, I’m pairing this 256GB RAM kit with AMD’s 64-core 3990X, on the site GoGame.com 4 years, 11 months ago
G.Skill on Monday unveiled a new high-performance, high-capacity 256GB Trident Z Neo DDR4-3600 memory kit that is intended to complement AMD’s recently launched 64-core/128-thread Ryzen Threadripper 3990X CPU. As a point of reference, however, this slower 256GB Trident Z Neo DDR4-3200 memory kit sells for $1,349.99 on Newegg. So between the 3990X and this excess RAM kit, you’d be looking at around $5,500 for just the CPU and memory. As with the 3990X, having 256GB of RAM is useful in other selec

pcgamer wrote a new post, Why Kim Kitsuragi is Disco Elysium’s breakout star, on the site GoGame.com 4 years, 11 months ago
Lieutenant Kim initially comes off cold and judgemental. Kurvitz stresses that Kim doesn’t actually have a character sheet hidden in Disco Elysium’s code. Unlike the detective, Kim doesn’t have a ‘copotype’, Disco Elysium’s witty and often sarcastic way of allowing the detective to define his modus operandi with monikers like ‘hobo cop’ and ‘art cop’. Disco Elysium is equal parts grim and hopeful, as is Lieutenant Kitsuragi, the buttoned up cop who’s occasionally willing to rip a few pages out o

It first launched back in February 2017, before making the jump to PC November that year, and it’s apparently been doing rather well for itself. Koei Tecmo has announced today, on its third birthday, that Nioh has shifted a healthy 3 million copies across platforms. Today, NIOH celebrates its 3rd year anniversary, and has sold over 3 million copies worldwide. It also suggests that Nioh has almost twice as many players on Steam than its contemporary Souls-like, Deck13’s The Surge. This should all

Despite controversy surrounding it using 8Chan as an outlet for PR in 2019, THQ Nordic has been doing rather well.

pcgamer wrote a new post, Here’s what Warcraft 3: Reforged looks like as a third-person RPG, on the site GoGame.com 4 years, 11 months ago
(Image credit: Blizzard)Few are satisfied with Warcraft 3: Reforged at present, but despite some not-so business-as-usual fine print pertaining to mods and maps, people are modding and mapping anyway. Take modder Serj Vasylyshyn for example, who has built what may be the first publicly demo’ed RPG map with a third-person perspective. Neither of those are new to Warcraft 3, of course – both RPG maps and third-person mods have existed for the original for ages, and in theory, most old mods should
