Something huge is coming to Pokémon Go soon: legendary Pokémon, which players can battle and catch for their own collections. LugiaBut our money is on Lugia being Pokémon Go’s first legendary Pokémon. The trailer for the Pokémon Go Fest campaign that will see our first legendary appearance highlights Lugia more than any of the other Pokémon featured. Pokémon Silver is the best Pokémon game ever made, so we’re OK with this if its cover star Lugia is, indeed, our first legendary monster. CelebiThe

So who is the model on the cover of the original Doom video game? Regardless of your interest level, we now have an answer, and it’s kind of a neat story. Legendary game developer Brenda Romero’s husband John Romero said that the model they had hired for the photo shoot for the cover art just wasn’t understanding what they were looking for. At the end of it we all decided the arm-grabbing pose was going to be the best.”The rest is history. And now we know that John Romero isn’t just Brenda Romer

theflyingcourier wrote a new post, Nintendo trademark suggests Nintendo 64 Classic Edition, on the site GoGame.com 7 years, 4 months ago
Here’s the most intriguing one:That’s clearly a Nintendo 64 controller, with its unique three-armed design and central analog stick. The company released the NES Classic Edition last fall, and an SNES Classic Edition is coming this September. Putting all the pieces together, these filings suggest that Nintendo could be thinking about making an N64 Classic Edition. And an N64 Classic Edition seems less likely than either of its predecessors because of the complexity of its controller, although th

But the latest Professor Layton installment, a series reboot that comes five years after the previous entry, is a reminder that maybe it’s not totally on me after all. Layton’s Mystery Journey: Katrielle and the Millionaires’ Conspiracy is out now on iOS and Android, retailing for a flat fee of $15.99. I love all of these aspects of Layton’s Mystery Journey, and particularly Katrielle herself. The new chief puzzle-solver is Professor Layton’s funny, self-confident daughter, and she’s joined by a

Dr. Anthony M. Bean, a licensed clinical psychologist in Texas, thinks that the idea of “video game addiction” is misguided at best, and dangerous at worst. Bean and his co-authors believe that there simply isn’t enough research to support the addition of video game addiction in either document. “We don’t know what video game addiction is. “We raise the potential that video game addiction is a ‘thing’ for the psychiatric and medical community less because empirical research has demonstrated a cl

There are three separate “challenge windows” in which the number of Pokémon caught collectively will unlock special rewards for every Pokémon Go player, not just those at the actual event. While the rewards vary based on Pokémon type for everyone in Chicago, everyone else will compete to unlock the bronze, silver or gold rewards. The legendary Pokémon that first descended upon Ch

theflyingcourier wrote a new post, How The International builds esports’ biggest prize pool every year, on the site GoGame.com 7 years, 4 months ago
The $21 million dollar prize pool didn’t appear overnight, nor did it come out of nowhere. Fans contributed $9.99 to earn an in-game “compendium,” and 25% of each sale (or, about $2.50) would be put into a prize pool. This money is on top of Valve’s base contribution of $1.6 million, which was the prize pool in prior years, with the top team earning $1 million. In the end, the prize pool was a solid $2,874,380, meaning fans contributed $1.2 million and spent nearly $5 million on the compendium i

In a letter to fans, Sense8 co-creator Lana Wachowski told the “Sense8 family” that their voices were heard and the show would return to the network for a two-hour finale. After a petition circulated asking Netflix to bring back the show, the creators were adamant that it wasn’t going to happen. Netflix giving the team a special, Wachowski wrote, was unforeseeable. “Improbably, unforeseeably, your love has brought Sense8 back to life,” Wachowski wrote. The show got its first full-length trailer today and, while fans had a number of concerns over what they saw, one stood out: Medusa’s hair. Here’s the thing about Medusa’s hair: It’s more than just something she keeps long for beauty reasons. Medusa’s hair is, well, inhumanly strong, and is capable of stretching past its already considerable length. Medusa’s hair is her central superheroic characteristic, that’s why many fans thought it was crucial ABC and Marvel get it right. #medusa #Inhumans

Developer Grezzo and its staff has helped out on several well-known adventure and role-playing games, a compelling resume when going into Ever Oasis. Grezzo’s also made some quirky, original action games exclusive to Nintendo eShop. As the studio’s first big, solo-developed original title, Ever Oasis feels like a mixture of all of these projects. But when baked into Ever Oasis, these genres are reduced to their most basic parts — almost always for worse. If I had any favorite characters among Ev
