After a nearly two-year hiatus, Adult Swim has released a teaser trailer for the seventh season of the action-adventure comedy The Venture Bros. The Venture Bros., Adult Swim’s longest-running series, follows the bizarre adventures of the Venture family, originally inspired as as playful spoofs of the 1964 animated adventure series Johnny Quest and the Hardy Boys. Creator Jackson Publick hinted at a season seven premiere earlier this year. They have to clear their minds to defeat it, since the d

The Comic Book History of Comics: Comics for All is technically a sequel to Fred Van Lente and Ryan Dunlavey’s Comic Book History of Comics: Birth of a Medium, and therefore breaks the rules of #1 Comic of the Week. There’s nothing you’ve “missed” that you couldn’t pick up by watching Issue at Hand (which you should watch anyway if you’re interested in comics history). And for another, Comics for All distinguishes itself by concentrating on the history of comics as an interconnected internationa

Nintendo has announced that Diddy Kong, Birdo and Koopa Paratroopa are coming to Mario Tennis Aces this fall, teasing the characters at the end of the trailer embedded at the top of this post. Mario Tennis Aces is a very good game, but it’s not quite the game many of us were hoping for it to be. No specific dates were given for the ability to unlock the characters, online or otherwise, however. It’s likely the characters will be released after the launch of Nintendo Switch Online this September.

The developers of Shaq Fu: A Legend Reborn released a new downloadable episode today that stars Barack Obama, the 44th President of the United States, as a gun-toting, drone-striking street vigilante. It’s called Barack Fu: The Adventures of Dirty Barry. Obama did not endorse the new Shaq Fu, mind you. Publisher Wired Productions called the former POTUS’ appearance in Shaq Fu: A Legend Reborn a parody. Shaq Fu: A Legend Reborn, a sequel to the 1994 fighting game Shaq Fu, and its Barack Fu: The A

For the first time in the mode’s 10-year history, FIFA Ultimate Team will reveal the odds players have of finding items when they open a pack of virtual cards. Packs of Ultimate Team cards are opened with an in-game currency that is freely acquired by playing that mode. An EA Sports representative told Polygon that the disclosure would apply to all Ultimate Team offerings for the coming year (Madden NFL, NHL and NBA Live all have Ultimate Team modes). Ultimate Team is its own mode, and no one ha

The Sims Freeplay, a seven-year-old mobile game, will no longer be available in seven countries starting on July 5. The Sims Freeplay is a free-to-play Sims mobile game (not to be confused with The Sims Mobile, released earlier this year). This removal follows the release of a highly-anticipated app update on June 18: allowing female Sims to get pregnant for the first time since the game’s release. In light of regional standards, starting July 5, 2018, The Sims FreePlay won’t be available in the

After being added to the game with patch v4.5 on Wednesday morning, Fortnite’s Final Fight Teams of 12 Limited Time Mode has been removed from live servers and replaced with the much more popular 50v50 mode. Fortnite’s Final Fight Mode, which debuted with a teams-of-20 version last week, has never been the community’s favorite exercise. So, Epic was certainly taking a risk when it decided to run the mode twice in a row, this time with groups of 12 instead. Finally, Epic went ahead and removed th

Patch 1.2.3 — coming on July 17 — is no exception, and will come with a ton of new Crucible changes for players to engage with. Supremacy will also be removed from the Quickplay playlist and become a weekly featured playlist instead. As far as the new ranked systems added in Warmind — Valor and Glory — players will have a chance to earn more while also having an easier ramp-up. This should help players chasing the Valor rewards feel appropriately rewarded for all PvP, not just standard Quickplay

Rumors of a missile launch in Fortnite have been circulating for weeks now, but developer Epic Games has finally confirmed that one is on the way. According to a news post in-game, the event is schedule for 1:30 p.m. EST on Saturday. While there have been several countdowns so far, it seems like this one is finally going to have something meaningful at the end. This is likely a lead up to the end of the season, which is scheduled to come on July 9. While last season’s end was punctuated by meteo

“Even though Diablo was Blizzard North’s baby, both North and South fought against doing Hellfire because it had become everyone’s baby. CUC was determined to move ahead with an expansion for Diablo, titled Hellfire, and Synergistic would handle development. “We worked closely with Blizzard North regarding game code, editors, and how to get art and features into Diablo,” he said. The cachet of the Diablo name, coupled with the smart changes Synergistic made to the core Diablo experience, carried

Bethesda continues to go hard on the Nintendo Switch, and the publisher is providing the sort of violent but oddly joyful games it does well, but are rare on Nintendo systems. The ideal Nintendo Switch game often feels like something that is fun for all age groups, and that’s certainly not something you can say about Wolfenstein 2: The New Colossus. The draw of the Switch version, for most, is going to be the ability to play on the go. This isn’t just a version of the game that works, it’s a ver

The NES Classic Edition is being restocked tomorrow, June 29, more than a year after Nintendo halted production on its retro mini-console. When Nintendo announced the miniature replica of its 30-year-old Nintendo Entertainment System in 2016, it was an immediate hit. Most retailers sold out on release day and resellers marked up listings by up to six times the original $59.99 price tag. We expect a similar outcome tomorrow, the first time the NES Classic is hitting shelves since April of 2017. N

But the best parts aren’t in the main story or even the sights — it’s everything else you’re allowed to do. As a big, bad former Yakuza man, I can buy the best whiskey as many times as I want. In Yakuza 0, you can replenish HP by consuming health drinks, snacks or eating at a restaurant. Listen to more of Ashley’s thoughts on Yakuza 0 at 41:48 in the latest episode of The Polygon Show. I never expected that I’d be creating my own game within a game, and I’m learning to be okay with that.

Fortnite is unquestionably one of the biggest games in the world right now, and Ninja is undeniably the game’s star player. A new video from Unbox Therapy, one of the most popular tech channels on YouTube, partnered with NZXT to break down Ninja’s setup. The video is sponsored; the build in question is one NZXT partnered with Ninja to produce, and then worked with Unbox Therapy to promote. There’s an option to buy his setup directly through the company, but you don’t need to use NZXT to build yo

Shane Dawson is one of YouTube’s most iconic creators — and one with a sizable, overwhelmingly dedicated fan group. The hive is so supportive of Dawson, and so enthusiastic about meeting him, that many members flew from around the world just to meet him at this year’s TanaCon. TanaCon, an event set up by YouTuber Tana Mongeau in retaliation to VidCon, was shut down following safety concerns and riot hazards. And then of course it was cancelled.”The statement is part of a three-part documentary s

The Endless, a low-budget science fiction film from 2017, has been released on VOD and rental services this week. The movie centers on Justin and Aaron, two brothers who left a religious cult around 10 years ago and now live a dreary existence cleaning houses. The Endless intersects with the pair’s 2012 movie Resolution, and 2014’s romantic body horror (!!!) film Spring, another film that does a remarkable amount with very little. This is a team that’s one or two incredible releases from everyon
